DETAILS
Our tour starts from the city of Kayseri, located in Central Anatolia. The same day, we drive to Nigde, Cukurbag village by minibus and continue to the campsite on the slopes of the Turkish Alps, Taurus Mountains (Toros - Aladaglar Range). Then from Pinarbasi village, we quickly climb into the high valleys and the pastures of the Taurus Mountains, staying in a series of fixed camps up to 3020m with an ascent to Mount Embler at 3723m. In this magnificent and seldom visited area we enjoy the exhilaration of mountain trekking at its very best. We expect to see nomads roaming around the upland pastures and they will almost certainly invite us into their camps as a guest - a privileged insight into a way of life unchanged for centuries. After Trans Taurus trekking, we head towards Cappadocia where we will spend 2 nights and explore the magnificent fairy chimneys, castles, underground cities and red valleys that Mother Nature has given in unique and varrying shapes.
We take the overnight train to Erzurum from Kayseri. Upon arrival to Erzurum, we head to Dogubeyazit and we check-in to our hotel. Next day we move towards Ararat Base Camp at 3200m. The next day's hike up to 4000m. and return back to base camp will enable us to climb high and sleep low - an important step in acclimatisation. The day before the summit attempt is spent at Camp 2 at 4100m. Then we set off for the summit at 5137m, past glaciers and through perennial snows.
We will return back to Dogubeyazit town for lunch after hiking for 2,5-3 hrs in order to descend down the mountain. After lunch we will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Ishak Pasha Palace; a 17th century Ottoman gem. Afterwards we'll see art demonstrations of the very best examples of Turkish handcrafts. Next morning we will transfer to Van city airport. We can continue with other extension Turkey tours or fly to Istanbul depending on your program.

ARARAT CLIMBING PERMIT & VISA
It is well known that the Ararat Mountain, which had been a favorite for climbers until 1980 was closed to the public during the Kurdish insurgence. It was reopened to visitors in 2001 when security in the area was reestablished. Nevertheless, to ensure continuance of security, visits to Mount Ararat are now under strict government control.
Individual climbers are subject to security investigations and only those who are approved are allowed to visit.
The permit procedures generally take up to two months for individual applicants, but if you join in our Ararat tours, we carry out the proper procedures on behalf of you which is the fastest and easiest way to obtain the necessary permissions.
